Update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 to Android 5.0 Lollipop CM12 ROM

Google releases android 5.0 lollipop Operating system for all android devices couple of month ago to Google’s own nexus devices, but the bad news is that Samsung didn’t announce any official statement regarding android 5.0 Lollipop update. However the good news is that the unofficial custom ROM available for download and install for major android device. Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 now gets unofficial android 5.0 Lollipop custom ROM zip file installation with latest CM12 ROM features. As we know Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 is a big flagship android smartphone model in 2012 calendar year released with stock firmware of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and recently got official android 4.4 kitkat firmware update and need to wait for android 5.0 Lollipop firmware update from samsung official server via OTA. Before entering Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 updates process,

Take a Complete backup because of any data and apps lost during installation.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,

Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,

Call Log – Call Log and Restore

Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,

APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

Already installed CWM Recovery mode (CWM Touch 6.0.3.2+ or latest TWRP)

Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 device follow this step “Settings > More > Developer Option > USB debugging”.

Download all above listed Google Apps and android 5.0 Lollipop ROM ZIP files to your computer or laptop and transfer zip file to Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 root of your SD card

Switch OFF your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300and Enter CWM Recovery by pressing Volume Up +Menu buttons together and do full wipe (everything except SD card)

From Recovery Menu, use Volume Up or Down button for navigation

Go to choose from SDcard or install ZIP from SD card and install or flash ROM.zip in ClockworkMod Recovery and install Google Apps too.

After ZIP file got installed DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (Wipe dalvik cache) (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)

Wait for 3 to 4 minutes and go to main menu and select ‘reboot system now’.

That it, your Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone now ready to reboot at Android 5.0 Lollipop version with CM12 version.

After rebooted check your device android version by checking Setting ->  More -> About phone and your model number GT-I9300 shows android version: 5.
