Prerequisites:

Take a Complete backup because of any data and apps lost during installation.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,

Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,

Call Log – Call Log and Restore

Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,

APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

You will find backups under ‘/mnt/shell/emulated’ on your device

Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your Motorola Moto X  device follow this step “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.

Minimum 65% battery need before start your work

Make sure the USB Drivers are installed

Steps to install “ClockworkMod (CWM)Recovery” in Motorola Moto X

  • Download the fastboot files and recovery file (rename it to ‘motox.img’) from above link place in same folder.
  • Switch OFF device and reboot it into bootloader by holding down the Power and Volume Down keys together. After device starts booting, use Power key but keep the Volume Down key held till you see the options menu.
  • After successfully connect at boots up in fastboot mode, connect Moto X to the PC. Here is the Moto X driver PC suite and install.
  • Now navigate to the Fastboot folder and while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard, right-click in the folder’s window and select ‘Open command window here’.
  • Enter the following command: fastboot flash recovery motox.img
  • After the recovery has been flashed, go directly into recovery first by selecting it from the menu shown. It is important to boot directly into the recovery at this step, otherwise it will be replaced with the stock recovery automatically.
  • All above steps goes well in ClockworkMod Recovery, finally reboot the device using the option provided in the recovery’s menu. You will be asked if you want to ‘disable recovery flash’. Select the disabling option to make sure CWM stays.

That’s it ClockworkMod (CWM)Recovery successfully installed on your Motorola Moto X smartphone to root or install any custom ROM, firmware files easily.
